For Campers Entering Grades 5-6

MORNING SESSIONS
Survival Science - Back By Demand

Week of June 16-20
Alone, marooned, scared, cold, and hungry? Do you have what it takes to endure? Back by popular demand, learn to use science to survive in nature. Build a solar cooker, read a map, and discover ways to purify water and identify edible wild foods. This camp includes a water safety day at the Rodale Aquatic Center, so bring your bathing suit!

Challenge Chemistry
Week of July 7-11
What happens when...? What if we mix…? If these are your kind of questions, join us for a week of chemical creativity! Discover chemistry in a whole new way as you become a chemist and design your own experiments. Investigate chemicals in everyday objects by creating your own concrete columns and edible creations.

Crime Lab
Week of July 21-25
Love those television shows about solving crimes? Join us as we get to the bottom of the mystery! Use scientific methods to uncover the unseen. Try some of the forensic techniques used by real crime solvers such as fingerprinting, chemical testing, and finding DNA. Discover how science can help solve a mystery. Don't miss a minute or you might miss a clue!

Creative Inventions
Week of Aug. 4-8
Dive into the realm of creativity as you become an inventor! Science and imagination collide as you learn more about the process of inventing and create your own contraptions. Solve problems by designing new inventions. Find out how creativity and imagination flow to develop new technologies! But proceed with caution! Our experiments and inventions will transform you into a scientist!

Spectrum of Science
Week of Aug. 18-22
Chemistry, biology, physics: which is your favorite science? What about life and environmental sciences? No need to decide, as you will investigate each of these sciences in this hands-on camp. Watch chemical reactions take place right before your eyes. Use electricity and magnetism to send sparks flying. There's a whole spectrum of science waiting for you!

AFTERNOON SESSIONS
Afternoon Investigators

Older campers will be able to dig deeper into their favorite science with different in-depth, age-appropriate activities every week. Activities will include swimming, visiting a college computer lab, investigating the exhibit floor, creating a take-home science t-shirt, and appearances by guest speakers.
